North Waziristan: In a major operation against terrorists, Pakistan’s security forces have thwarted a large-scale infiltration attempt by a group of ‘Khawarij’ (Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan) militants at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the Hassan Khel area of North Waziristan, says ISPR in a press release.
The operation, conducted over the nights of April 25-26 and 26-27, resulted in the elimination of 54 terrorists, the highest number killed in a single engagement during the ongoing campaign against terrorism, said military media.
According to official sources, security forces detected the movement of the militants, who were attempting to infiltrate Pakistani territory. Demonstrating exceptional vigilance, professionalism, and precision, own troops engaged the group effectively, preventing what could have been a catastrophic terrorist incident. A significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was also recovered from the neutralized militants.
Intelligence reports suggest that the infiltrators were acting on behalf of their “foreign masters,” tasked with executing high-profile terrorist activities within Pakistan. The timing of the infiltration attempt — coinciding with baseless accusations from India against Pakistan — has raised serious concerns about the coordination between hostile elements and terrorist outfits like Fitna al Khawarij (FAK).
The National Security Committee (NSC), in its recent meeting, highlighted that India’s apparent strategic aim is to divert Pakistan’s security focus from its counterterrorism operations, thereby providing much-needed breathing space to terrorist groups facing relentless pressure from Pakistani forces.
The successful operation is a testament to the security forces’ steadfast resolve and operational readiness. It reflects Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to defending its frontiers and uprooting the scourge of terrorism. Officials reaffirmed that the armed forces will continue to carry out decisive actions against all threats to national security.
This latest achievement further consolidates Pakistan’s gains in the war against terror and sends a strong message that the nation remains determined and united in safeguarding its sovereignty.
