Police uses force in Quetta killing three protesters, says BYC leader
QUETTA: Three protesters are killed and many others injured as security forces crackdown on a peaceful demonstration in Quetta, as the BYC stated in a press release publisheded on Saturday.
The protest, led by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), demanded an end to enforced disappearances and alleged illegal force by law enforcement agencies.
Security forces respond with mass arrests, tear gas, and live ammunition, leading to multiple casualties. Reports suggest police fire indiscriminately at unarmed demonstrators, drawing widespread condemnation from human rights organizations, BYC said.
Amnesty International South Asia calls the crackdown a “shocking indictment” of Pakistani authorities’ disregard for human life and urges an impartial investigation. The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) and South Asian Human Rights (SAHR) also denounce the violence, demanding the immediate release of detained activists, including Dr. Maharang Baloch.
The locals said to The Native Voices that, communications blockage, and mobile networks cut-off distruped the netizens everyday life activities., further more it complicates the crisis, restricting the flow of information. As protests continue, international scrutiny over human rights violations in Balochistan intensifies.
